Job DescriptionThe Manufacturing Engineer in the Robotics field will focus on scaling up innovative robotic prototypes into robust, large-scale manufacturing processes. This role involves close collaboration with design and R&D teams to ensure that prototypes are manufacturable at scale with contract manufacturers, while maintaining high quality and cost efficiency. The successful candidate will play a key role in refining and optimizing production processes, fixturing, & automation to meet the demands of high-volume manufacturing.
Responsibilities- Lead the process of scaling up high precision sensing systems from initial concept to large-scale production ensuring timelines and budgets are met
- Collaborate with the R&D and design teams to identify and address potential DFM challenges in scaling
- Work closely with contract manufacturers, ensuring processes are transferable and scalable to meet the growing demand of production
- Develop detailed documentation, including work instructions for large-scale production processes
- Continuously evaluate and improve production workflows to enhance throughput and reduce costs
- Lead initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCAs) for production issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders on project progress and outcomes
- Conduct safety training for manufacturing personnel involved in production
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong focus on scaling prototypes to mass production
- Proven experience in implementing electro-mechanical product manufacturing through a contract manufacturer
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Python and C++ and knowledge of best practices
- Strong project management skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Experience with Jira is a plus.
- Experience with working in an ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 manufacturing environment
